We are very fortunate to have Balanced Body Authorized Training Centers worldwide with experienced Educators. This Authorized Training Center (ATC) Highlight focuses on Pilates trends by region, starting with Lauren Brandt, Owner of LaurenBrandtPilates.com based in Western Canada.

What is trending in Pilates in your region?

In western Canada, particularly on Vancouver Island, Reformer classes are by far the most popular, with clients drawn to their versatility and ability to accommodate a wide range of fitness levels and goals. There’s also a high demand for Reformer teacher training, especially online. I strive to make the online experience engaging and fun by incorporating interactive props and anatomy models to enhance learning and create a more dynamic environment. Additionally, there’s a growing interest in Pilates as an effective tool for physical therapy and rehabilitation, which is helping to expand its reach. While privates remain strong, group classes continue to foster a sense of community, which is a big draw for many clients.

Is Pilates thriving? What do you think is helping it thrive?

Absolutely, Pilates is thriving! A combination of factors is contributing to this boom. Social media and celebrity endorsements have undoubtedly brought more visibility to Pilates as a highly effective, functional form of exercise. However, the more significant factor is the growing shift toward a mindful, holistic approach to health, and Pilates fits perfectly into that space. With athletes and physiotherapists increasingly advocating for its benefits, we’re seeing more people embrace Pilates as part of a long-term wellness strategy, not just a workout.

Where/how do you think Pilates will grow in the next few years?

Looking ahead, I see Pilates continuing to evolve both as a rehabilitative and performance-enhancing tool. With its integration into physical therapy and sports conditioning, I think we’ll see more crossover into healthcare settings. Additionally, the online space for Pilates education will likely keep expanding, offering greater accessibility for those who want to train, learn, and teach Pilates. I also see more creative use of technology and virtual tools to make education more immersive.
