Balance is an integrated sensory experience that is needed for all dynamic movement such as walking, running or climbing stairs. Join Naboso founder Dr. Emily as she takes you through 4 simple but powerful tricks to improve balance, aka “Balance Hacks”. And make sure to watch the video below for a great visual on how to do these effectively!
1st – Eyes
Focus the eyes on one spot to integrate the visual system
2nd – Touch
Stimulate the skin on the fingers by lightly touching a wall or chair. Or by putting the hands on your hips, or even holding a Neur Ball!
The skin on our hands is like the skin of our feet, packed with sensory nerves that are used to control posture and balance.
3rd – Tension
Make a fist, open the fingers wide, engage the core. All of these are ways to isometrically contract your muscles thereby creating fascial tension. Fascial stimulation is a great hack for balance as our fascial web has over 100 million sensory nerves.
4th – Breathe.
Never, ever hold your breath when flowing through balance exercises or dynamic movement. The integration between the diaphragm and pelvic floor is a critical part of how we control our center of gravity. Want to learn even. more about balance and sensory stimulation?
